Outsourced BDR FAQ: 20 questions B2B SaaS buyers ask before hiring an agency

By Roy Itzhaki · · 7 min read

These are the questions B2B SaaS founders and sales leaders ask us most before they hire an outsourced BDR agency, with straight answers. Each one links to a deeper guide if you want more.

    The basics

    1. What is an outsourced BDR agency?

An outsourced BDR agency runs outbound prospecting for you. It builds target lists, contacts buyers by phone, email and LinkedIn, and books qualified meetings for your account executives. You get a working outbound team without hiring, training and managing one. More in what is an outsourced SDR agency.

    2. What's the difference between a BDR and an SDR?

Many companies use the terms for the same job. Where they differ, BDRs usually focus on outbound prospecting, while SDRs often follow up on inbound leads. See our SDR vs BDR guide.

    3. Is outsourcing BDRs better than hiring in-house?

It depends on your stage. An agency skips hiring and ramp, which the Bridge Group puts at 3.0 months for a new SDR, and protects you from turnover, which runs at 40% a year at the median. An in-house team builds long-term knowledge. Many SaaS companies outsource first, then hire. See outsourced vs in-house SDRs.

    Cost and contracts

    4. How much does an outsourced BDR agency cost?

Among prices published in October 2026, CIENCE starts at $1,750 a month for one offshore SDR before fees, SalesRoads charges $11,950 per four weeks for one SDR, and BizDev Labs programs run from $10,000 to $14,000 a month for a team, or $20,000+ for larger programs. Many agencies only quote on a call. More in outsourced BDR services costs.

    5. What pricing models do BDR agencies use?

The common ones are a monthly retainer for a team, a price per SDR seat, pay-per-meeting, and hybrids with a performance bonus. Each one changes what the agency is rewarded for. See performance-based pricing for outbound agencies.

    6. Should I pick an agency that guarantees meetings?

Be careful. A guaranteed count can push an agency toward loose meeting definitions and easy-to-book titles. A written meeting definition, full weekly visibility and exit terms usually protect you better. See should an outbound agency guarantee meetings?

    7. How long are outsourced BDR contracts?

They range from month to month to six-month minimums. BizDev Labs uses a six-month minimum with quarterly exit gates, and you can leave on 30 days' notice if we fall off plan for reasons on our side. Whatever the term, ask exactly how you can exit if the numbers aren't there.

    8. What should I own when the contract ends?

Everything built for you: the lists, scripts, email sequences, call recordings and the playbook. If an agency keeps those, you start from zero when you leave.

    Results and timelines

    9. How fast can an outsourced BDR team launch?

Most agencies launch in two to three weeks. BizDev Labs goes live on phone, email and LinkedIn 14 days after signature, which mostly covers email domain warm-up and your approval of the playbook, lists and scripts.

    10. When will I see the first meetings?

At BizDev Labs, first meetings typically land in week three. Judge any program on its first 90 days, not its first two weeks. See why outbound takes 90 days.

    11. How many meetings should I expect?

It depends on your market, deal size and list. For reference, the Bridge Group's 2025 median quota for an in-house SDR is 10 held meetings a month. Be wary of a fixed number promised before any calls are made. A good agency sets a target from real data, usually within the first 60 days.

    12. What counts as a qualified meeting?

Whatever you agree in writing before launch: the titles, company size and need the buyer has to confirm. Without that definition, meeting counts can't be trusted. See what counts as a qualified meeting.

    13. How do I measure an outsourced BDR program?

Track five levels every week: activity, reach, conversations, qualified meetings held and pipeline. Our BDR metrics scorecard shows what to track and how to read it.

    How the work gets done

    14. Which channels should an outsourced BDR team use?

Phone, email and LinkedIn, working the same accounts. The phone gets conversations, email adds reach and detail, and LinkedIn warms up senior buyers. See cold calling vs cold email vs LinkedIn.

    15. Should one SDR cover every channel?

Ideally not. List building, calling, email deliverability and LinkedIn each take different skills, and one person rarely does all of them well. That's why we built BizDev Labs around five specialists. See why BDR programs fail.

    16. Can an outsourced team sell a complex or technical product?

Yes, if its job is the first conversation, not the demo. The BDR needs to know who feels the problem and how to describe it in the buyer's words. See can an agency really sell our product?

    17. Do outsourced BDR agencies use AI?

Most use AI for research, list building and drafting. Fewer let AI run the conversations, and buyers still prefer to check what they learn with a person. Ask every agency who actually talks to your buyers. See AI SDRs vs human BDRs.

    18. Whose email domains and LinkedIn profiles are used?

It varies by agency, so ask. At BizDev Labs, cold email goes out from separate sending domains we set up, so your main domain stays protected, and LinkedIn outreach is sent from your executives' profiles.

    Choosing an agency

    19. How do I choose an outsourced BDR agency?

Ask who exactly will work your account, who builds the lists, how a qualified meeting is defined, what you'll see each week, what the exit terms are and what you keep. Our list of the best BDR agencies for B2B SaaS in 2027 compares the main options, and how to hire an outbound partner without getting burned covers the warning signs.

    20. What's the best outsourced BDR agency for B2B SaaS?

It depends on your stage and motion. For growth-stage and mid-market SaaS that wants a specialist running every channel, BizDev Labs is built for exactly that. For global multilingual programs or per-seat capacity, other agencies may fit better, and our ranked list explains which.
