    02

The three models, and why the difference matters

    Staffing models

    memoryBlue · Whistle

They sell people. Works when you already have a manager, a message and a playbook — seats added to a company with none of those produce activity, not pipeline.

    Full function models

    BizDev Labs · Sales Focus

They sell the function. Works when nobody internally owns outbound strategy — costs more per month and less per outcome, because you are not paying to discover things the agency already knows.

    Platform and hybrid models

SalesHive · Cleverly · Martal Group

A proprietary platform alongside reps, automated single-channel outreach, or fractional executives who can run discovery and closing, not just booking.

    03

How to choose in five questions

    1

    Is anything proven yet?

If no message has produced a meeting, buying volume is premature. You need an agency that will test angles and kill the losers, not one that will scale whatever you hand it.

    2

Does your buyer answer the phone?

In security, infrastructure and enterprise software, the phone still finds buy cycles that email misses. Ask specifically who calls, how many dials a week, and to hear three recorded calls.

    3

    Who takes the meetings?

If your AEs are at capacity, a booking agency creates a problem rather than solving one. Models that extend into discovery and closing exist for this case.

    4

    Are you paying per lead?

A per lead price rewards volume and punishes rigour. Retainer models make quality the only thing the agency can compete on.

    5

What do you keep at the end?

Ask whether the lists, sequences, call recordings and playbook transfer to you. Roughly a third of agency clients eventually bring outbound in house — the ones who kept the asset can.

    04

What a qualified meeting should mean

The single largest source of disappointment in agency relationships is a meeting definition nobody wrote down. Before signing, get all five of these into the order form:

Get all five into the order form

    • The account matches ICP criteria you approved
    • The attendee holds a title on your approved list
    • The rep tested for a real problem, a timeline or an owner, not just curiosity
    • The meeting is measured on held, not booked — no-shows are rebooked at the agency's cost
    • Your AE receives the problem in the prospect's words, the objections raised and the call recording

Any agency that resists writing this down is telling you something.

    05

    What outbound costs, honestly

Across the market, outsourced B2B appointment setting generally runs $2,000 to $10,000 a month. Below roughly $3,000 you are usually buying one channel or offshore delivery. Above roughly $8,000 you should expect senior reps, multiple channels and a named team.

Compare against hiring. Industry figures put a fully loaded SDR near $85,000 to $125,000 a year once salary, commission, benefits, tools and management time are included, with three to four months of ramp before consistent output. A tool stack alone, dialer, data, sending infrastructure and LinkedIn seats, runs around $60,000 in year one.

    Frequently asked questions

Which outbound agency is best for B2B SaaS? There is no single best. For a proven motion that needs more volume, lower cost providers like SalesHive work well. For an unproven motion in a technical market, a full function agency with senior callers is a better fit. Ask every agency for two references, one current client and one former, in a motion similar to yours.

How much does an outbound sales agency cost? Between roughly $400 a month for single channel LinkedIn outreach and $11,000 a month and up for a dedicated senior team. Most multi channel B2B engagements land between $5,000 and $10,000 a month.

How long before outbound produces meetings? One week to launch is achievable if the agency builds lists, copy and sending infrastructure in parallel. First meetings typically land in week three. Steady state takes about six weeks. Any promise of meetings in week one should be treated with suspicion.

Should we hire SDRs instead? In year one an agency is usually cheaper than two hires plus a manager plus tools. Over five years, in house wins. The real question is whether you already know outbound works for your market, because that is the expensive thing to learn with salaries attached.

Do outbound agencies still work in 2026? Yes, in markets where the buyer is identifiable and the deal size supports the cost of a conversation. They work poorly for low ACV products, undefined ICPs and companies without capacity to take meetings.

Pit-Crew TeamBizDev Labs' delivery model: small groups of specialists who each own one piece of the outbound engine, strategy and RevOps, LinkedIn, email, cold calling, and GTM engineering, rather than a single overwhelmed rep juggling ten tools. For mid-market and enterprise buyers, this matters because a buying committee of six to ten stakeholders needs coordinated multi-channel coverage, not one person's bandwidth. Pit-Crew Teams are compensated as a team rather than in individual silos, so everyone is aligned around pipeline growth for your account specifically.Buying Signal (Warm Trigger)Real-world activity, like funding rounds, role changes, and site visits, that indicates a prospect's timing has shifted. For enterprise and mid-market accounts with long sales cycles, buying signals are how we identify which of the six to ten stakeholders in a committee is actually active right now, rather than blasting the whole committee on the same static cadence. Signals feed the weekly feedback loop that tells us which triggers are converting for your specific market.GTM EngineeringThe technical specialization inside a Pit-Crew Team that builds the infrastructure behind your outbound engine: tooling, data pipelines, and automation that make signal tracking and multi-channel campaign execution work at the scale enterprise and mid-market accounts require. It's what lets us track buying-committee-level signals across six to ten stakeholders simultaneously instead of manually monitoring one contact at a time.
